The Biggest Exporters of Beef in the World – Pakistan & Gulf Economist

by Katharina Buchholz

As the following chart shows, Brazil is expected to retain its role as the world’s biggest exporter of beef in 2025, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Forecasts as of April predict that the country will export 3.75 million tons of beef this year. The other major players in beef exports in 2025 are India, which exports water buffalo, the United States and Australia.

Despite the second presidency of Donald Trump seeing many new tariffs coming into effect, the beef trade market did not see major disruptions over the course of the year so far. The United States is not only a major producer and exporter of beef, but also a big buyer of Australian, Brazilian and New Zealand beef exports. But as new tariffs coincided with a beef shortage in the U.S. this year, the country kept buying. Since tariffs on Brazilian goods rose to 50 percent in early August, this dynamic has reportedly been changing, however, and Brazil has been looking for new buyers.

When looking at the countries that produce the most beef, a different order appears. Then, the U.S. is in first rank, as it sells much of its beef domestically.
