UK police arrest man after 21 injured in Heathrow Airport car park fight

Police arrested a man at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday after a crowd of people were hit with pepper spray during a robbery at a car park that caused several hours of travel disruptions.

Five people were taken by ambulance to a hospital and another 16, including a three-year-old girl, were treated at the scene, officials said. None of the injuries was believed to be serious.

The incident in the Terminal 3 car park on the outskirts of London happened when a group of four men stole a woman’s suitcase in a lift and sprayed her with an irritant, the Metropolitan Police said.

Terminal 3 remained open throughout but the incident prompted severe traffic and public transport disruption in the area, according to officials and reports.

London’s Metropolitan Police said officers were first called just after 8am local time following reports of multiple people being assaulted in the car park.

“A number of people were sprayed with what is believed to be a form of pepper spray by a group of men who then left the scene,” police said.
