Explosion at wedding ceremony leaves five dead in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least five people were killed and several others injured in a powerful explosion during a wedding ceremony at the residence of Peace Committee head Noor Alam Mehsud in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district.

According to local police, the suicide blast occurred at the house of Peace Committee member Noor Alam Mehsud near Qureshi Mor. Heavy police contingents rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the report.

Police officials said the wedding ceremony was underway at the time of the explosion. Five fatalities have been confirmed so far, while authorities fear the death toll may rise.

Police further stated that several members of the Peace Committee were present at the venue when the blast occurred.

The injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, while security agencies have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
