Pakistan weather update: PMD issues nationwide forecast

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country today, while mountainous regions are likely to remain partly cloudy and cold.

The Met Office stated that upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan may receive isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rain and snowfall at a few places. Meanwhile, temperatures in the plains are forecast to remain above normal during daytime hours.

In Islamabad and adjoining areas weather conditions are expected to stay dry, with partly cloudy skies and gusty winds likely in the afternoon. Daytime temperatures in the federal capital are anticipated to range between 28°C and 30°C.

Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to experience cold and partly cloudy weather, with chances of light rain and snowfall in isolated areas. Similar cold and partly cloudy conditions are forecast for Kashmir.

Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts will remain dry. However, upper regions including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Bajaur, and Waziristan may witness isolated thunderstorms with light rain or snowfall.

Daytime temperatures in the province’s plains are expected to range between 29°C and 31°C, while hilly areas may record temperatures between 21°C and 23°C.

In Punjab, predominantly dry and warm weather is predicted, with gusty winds likely to develop in the plains during the afternoon. Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy, with cold conditions during morning and nighttime hours. Temperatures in central and southern Punjab may range between 32°C and 34°C.

Sindh is likely to experience dry weather across most districts, with daytime temperatures expected between 33°C and 36°C.

In Balochistan, dry conditions are forecast in most areas, while northern districts may remain cold during early morning and night hours. Temperatures in northern Balochistan are expected between 23°C and 25°C, whereas southern parts may record 33°C to 35°C.

The PMD has advised citizens, particularly in northern regions, to remain cautious of possible thunderstorms and fluctuating temperatures.
