6.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Islamabad, other cities

Tremors were reported in Muzaffarabad, Skardu, Diamer, Rawalpindi, Murree, Taxila, and Hassan Abdal.

ISLAMABAD: Tremors from an earthquake were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, and several other cities across the country, causing panic among residents.

According to the Seismological Center, tremors were reported in Muzaffarabad, Skardu, Diamer, Rawalpindi, Murree, Taxila, and Hassan Abdal.

Other affected areas included Lower Dir, Kohat, Swat, Sawabi, Shabqadar, and Parachinar. The earthquake originated from the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan at a depth of 190 km.

The tremors caused panic among residents, many of whom emerged from their homes reciting the Kalma Tayyiba.
