Battalion headquarters buried under snow in one of the deadliest disasters in Pakistan Army history.

The Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield is not only a test against enemy forces but also a relentless battle against nature itself.

On April 7, 2012, the extreme conditions of this unforgiving terrain claimed the lives of many of Pakistan Army’s finest.

A catastrophic avalanche struck the battalion headquarters, burying it completely under snow. In this heart-wrenching disaster 129 courageous soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice defending the honor and integrity of their homeland.

The devastation was so immense that even international rescue teams deemed the mission impossible. Undeterred, the Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers, driven by patriotism and courage, launched a daring rescue operation.

Their tireless efforts and unyielding bravery brought the mission to a successful conclusion a testament to the resilience of Pakistan’s armed forces.

To honor the fallen heroes of Gayari, a memorial now stands at the Siachen front, ensuring that their sacrifice is remembered by the entire nation. Today, Pakistan salutes the Shaheedan-e-Gayari, whose extraordinary courage and devotion to the country will forever inspire generations.
