Australia calls on the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table

Australia has urged the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table, calling on both sides to preserve the ceasefire and pursue continued diplomatic engagement to ease rising tensions.

The Australian Foreign Minister described the outcome of the recent talks as disappointing noting that the absence of a final agreement underscores the urgency for a credible and lasting resolution. She cautioned that any further escalation could have far-reaching consequences for global economic stability.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that while substantial progress had been made during the negotiations, a complete agreement could not be reached due to unresolved differences on a few critical issues.

He stressed that expecting a comprehensive deal in a single round of talks was unrealistic, given the complexity of the matters under discussion and the evolving geopolitical landscape. According to Baghaei, the negotiations also expanded to include new areas of concern.

He further confirmed that diplomatic consultations will continue with Pakistan and other regional partners, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to safeguarding its national interests through sustained dialogue.

The latest developments highlight ongoing diplomatic efforts to bridge differences, even as significant challenges remain in achieving a final settlement.
