FTO Appoints New Honorary Coordinator for Customs Matters in Karachi Region – CustomsNews.pk Daily

KARACHI: In a move aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and streamlining customs-related grievance redressal, the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat has officially appointed Mr. Qamar-ul-Islam, Vice Chairman of the All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA), as the Honorary Coordinator (Customs Matters) for the Karachi region.

Mr. Qamar-ul-Islam replaces Mr. Mehmood Ul Hassan Anwar in this key liaison role. The appointment was formalized through an official order issued by Dr. Arsalan Subuctageen, Advisor (Customs) at the FTO Secretariat.

As Honorary Coordinator, Mr. Qamar-ul-Islam will be responsible for:

– Liaising with local chambers of commerce, trade associations, and market bodies on customs clearance issues  

– Representing the concerns and challenges of customs clearing agents to the FTO  

– Organizing awareness sessions and advocacy forums to promote informed redressal  

– Conducting research and gathering stakeholder feedback to improve operational efficiency  

– Coordinating seminars, campaigns, and other outreach initiatives  

– Maintaining close coordination with the FTO office and undertaking assignments as directed

The FTO Secretariat emphasized that this appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to collaborative problem-solving and responsive governance in customs administration. Stakeholders across Karachi’s trade and customs ecosystem are expected to benefit from enhanced communication channels and more structured advocacy under Mr. Qamar-ul-Islam’s coordination.
