KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Oct, 2025) The anti-polio campaign was underway in Karachi division with rising trend of the vaccination of refusal as well as left out cases.
Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on Saturday visited high risk and vulnerable Union Councils of district Malir.
He went to Muslimabad and Muzafarabad UCs to review progress of the vaccination campaign.
Karachi Polio Task Force Coordinator Saud Yaqoob, health and police officials, polio and support team members and local notables were present on the occasion.
The Commissioner was briefed by officers concerned while polio workers complained about the uncooperative and abusive behaviour of some of the parents regarding vaccination of the children who refused earlier.
The Commissioner said that it was decided that parents who exhibit abusive behavior towards polio workers would face strict administrative action and legal proceedings.
The Commissioner instructed the Deputy Commissioner and area DSP to take necessary action and appreciated the services of polio workers, asking them to fearlessly report individuals who exhibit abusive behavior and interfere with their work.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Karachi chaired a meeting of the Karachi Polio Task Force at his office, reviewing the anti-polio campaign.
Saud Yaqoob, Coordinator Karachi Task Force, presented details of the campaign’s performance over the past five days.
The Commissioner was informed that 2141422 children up to age of 5 years were received polio drops during last 5 days while over 300000 refusal cases or left out children were also vaccinated.
According to details, 300,000 children were vaccinated in District Central, 280,000 in District East, 253,000 in District Kemari, 308,000 in District Korangi, 366,000 in District Malir, 173,000 in District South, and 352,000 in District West.
