Aaron Phypers’ Explosive Felony Charges Revealed After Shocking Courthouse Arrest!
Denise Richards’ estranged husband Aaron Phypers was arrested outside a Los Angeles courthouse on Friday following a heated hearing — and now his charges have been revealed.
According to court documents, Aaron, 53, was charged with two felony counts of injuring a spouse and two felony counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat. His bail was set at $200,000. Aaron’s attorney, Michael Finley, told TMZ that his client had “no idea” there was a warrant for his arrest, claiming Denise and her legal team “set him up” during Friday’s proceedings.
The arrest took place immediately after a tense court hearing where Denise, 54, and Aaron were battling over her request for a permanent restraining order.
According to witnesses, Aaron was taken into custody just steps from the courtroom. “He’s been arrested outside the court and taken down a nearby escalator. [He] did not come back into [the] hallway,” one eyewitness told Us Weekly. “Denise is here. She’s calm and talking to her team.”
Sources claim that Aaron Phypers and his lawyers appeared “confused” by the sudden turn of events and “didn’t seem to understand that he was about to get arrested.” Aaron later posted bond and even took a photo with his bail person after his release.
A spokesperson for Aaron confirmed the arrest, saying, “We can confirm that Aaron Phypers was, in fact, arrested near the end of the family law court day on October 17, 2025, and was later released on bail.”
The statement continued, “We have not seen the criminal complaint, but we believe that it is most likely based upon the same false accusations that Denise Richards has brought against Mr. Phypers in the family law domestic violence proceeding, which she claims occurred nearly four years ago. If so, we expect that the evidence will demonstrate Mr. Phypers’ innocence and that he will be acquitted.”
Denise went public with allegations of abuse in July, accusing her estranged husband of years of violent behavior in her court filings. “Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head,” she claimed. “[He would] aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back … and hack into my laptop and phone.”
Aaron has denied all allegations, calling her claims “conjured up.”
In a statement, he said, “I want to address recent rumors and speculation that have surfaced regarding my relationship with my wife, Denise Richards. Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone.”
During the same October hearing, Aaron’s mother, Patricia Phypers, testified that she once saw Denise throw “a can opener” at Aaron during an argument and denied ever witnessing her son threaten or abuse Denise. Earlier this month, Pamela Brogardi, Denise’s longtime makeup artist, took the stand and claimed Aaron once screamed, “I’ll break your f***ing legs,” after barging into a room where she was working on Denise’s makeup.
Pamela testified that she had covered bruises on Denise “at least a dozen times” during their marriage and that the actress often appeared “scared” and “feared for her life.”
Kathleen McAllister, Aaron’s cousin and former employee, also testified virtually, claiming she once witnessed Aaron hit Denise in January 2022. “I saw Aaron hit Denise and immediately she had a really bad black eye,” McAllister said, describing it as “an evening of chaos and arguing.”
Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers married in 2018 after dating for two years. Their divorce has grown increasingly bitter since Aaron filed to end the marriage in July, with multiple court appearances, abuse claims, and conflicting family testimony dominating the proceedings. A new hearing on Denise’s restraining order request is scheduled for November 7 in Los Angeles.
