Ashley Darby Pressured To Apologize To Insurance Fraud Scammer Wendy Osefo

Ashley Darby finally bowed to pressure from fans and castmates, issuing an apology to Wendy Osefo — despite still believing the RHOP star is caught up in an insurance-fraud scandal of her own making.

“I was maybe a little shady. I kind of take it back a little bit,” Ashley told an interviewer while walking the BravoCon 2025 red carpet on Friday, November 14. “I hit a little too hard a little too fast. I can acknowledge that, but I am worried about her, and I hope she’s OK, honestly.” Her apology comes weeks after Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were indicted on multiple counts of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and making false statements to police. The couple was arrested on October 9 and released on $50,000 bond each.

Following the arrest, Wendy’s legal team filed a series of motions on October 17 in Carroll County, Maryland, arguing she had been “illegally arrested” and that the charging documents contained “defects.”

Her attorneys also asked the court to suppress “all evidence” gathered during what they allege was an “unlawful search or seizure,” as well as exclude “all wire and verbal communications” based on claims of “unlawful interception.” They additionally requested Wendy’s trial be separated from Eddie’s. 

Just hours after news of Wendy’s arrest broke, Ashley performed at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C., where she made a pointed joke referencing the charges. “We’re making melodies, not felonies, if you know what I mean,” she said onstage on October 10. “I’m just throwing it out there… This ain’t news to us. This just news to y’all.” But at the Potomac Takes Vegas panel at BravoCon, Ashley publicly reversed course.

“I can admit that I was maybe a little hot in the pants about what I said about Wendy,” Ashley told moderator Zuri Hall. “When I thought about it later, it wasn’t the time or the place. Honestly, I said it light-heartedly but I realize that this is in no way a light-hearted situation for Wendy, so I do want to say I’m sorry for how hot I came for Wendy and I mean it.”

Ashley added that she attempted to apologize privately backstage, but Wendy declined. “You didn’t wanna talk to me so I receive that,” Ashley said. “I’m simply saying what I need to say and I mean it. You can either take it or not.”

Wendy’s response was brief — and icy: “Well, I will not. Thank you God.” Speaking on the red carpet, Ashley recalled learning about Wendy’s arrest in the middle of a school drop-off errand. “Someone sent it to me, and I was like, ‘Why are you sending me this foolishness?’” she said. “I’d just seen Wendy a few days prior, and everything was fine. So once more news came out, it was shocking and jarring.”
