Balkra’s Play Left The Audience Visibly Shaken & Ready To Speak Up

The theatre play ‘Balkra’, staged at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts on Sunday in collaboration with Dastan Theatre, sheds light on two of society’s most troubling issues systemic injustice against the transgender community and the haunting realities of child abduction.

The drama highlighted that the indifference and silence of society are the biggest tools of oppression.

‘Mojo’ is the main character of the drama, which is a symbolic entity and manifested in the various forms of power, fear, oppression and hypocrisy.

Mojo represents the dark side of society—unseen yet hovering around every faction, group, organization, and conscience.

The pin-drop silence in the theatre during the performance, followed by a huge round of applause at the conclusion of the play, was a testament that the production truly touched the hearts of the attendees.
