Donald Trump taunts protesters with video of him still president in 20 years

President Donald Trump has taunted protesters with a new video threatening that he will be in power “4EVA”. Posting to Truth Social the clip features a mock Time magazine cover and yard signs featuring campaign slogans “Trump 2028,” “Trump 2032,” “Trump 2036” with the final slogan reading “Trump 2048” indicating that Trump will still hold the top job in over 20 years time.

The video then proceeds to tick through the election years before eventually reaching the year 90,000 before revealing the stark message: “Trump 4EVA”. The video is all to Edvard Grieg’s ominous ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’. This comes days after crowds of Americans hit the streets across the country to vent their anger over President Trump’s policies in “No Kings” protests and ongoing discussions about presidential term limits.

Trump has previously failed to rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment which limits a president to two terms.

However, earlier this year he told NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was “not joking”.

“A lot of people want me to do it”, he said.

Governor Gavin Newsom, one of the Democratic party’s most forceful critics of President Trump, is among the Democrats who have expressed serious concerns about the future of elections and the potential for term limit changes.

The president’s MAGA supporters labelled the protests over the weekend as “hate marches” and come after several deployments of the US National Guard to so-called “blue states” – those where Donald Trump did not win a majority of the vote in last year’s election.

Demonstrators rallied with signs like “Nothing is more patriotic than protesting” or “Resist Fascism”, and in many places, it looked more like a street party.

There were marching bands, a huge banner with the US Constitution’s We The People preamble that people could sign, and protesters in frog costumes, which have emerged as a sign of resistance in Portland, Oregon.
