Fans react as Prasidh Krishna, Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill sizzle in GT’s thrilling win over LSG in IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7 wickets in Match 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, GT executed their plans to perfection, restricting LSG to a below-par total before chasing it down comfortably with 8 balls to spare.

Prasidh Krishna’s brilliance dents LSG batting effort

LSG never quite found momentum with the bat despite a promising start from Mitchell Marsh, who smashed 11 off just 4 balls. Aiden Markram played a steady knock of 30 off 21 deliveries, while skipper Rishabh Pant chipped in with a quick 18 off 11 balls. However, the middle order failed to capitalize as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad struggled to accelerate, managing 19 and 18 respectively, which slowed down the innings. Late contributions from Mukul Choudhary (18 off 14), George Linde (16 off 10), and Mohammad Shami (12 off 5) helped LSG reach 164/8 in their 20 overs, but it never looked like a daunting total.

The standout performer with the ball was Prasidh Krishna, who delivered a match-defining spell of 4/28 in his 4 overs, dismantling LSG’s middle and lower order. Ashok Sharma also impressed with 2 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj kept things tight, conceding just 19 runs in his spell.

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler power GT’s smooth chase

In reply, Gujarat Titans started steadily, with Sai Sudharsan contributing 15 runs before falling early. However, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler took control of the chase with a brilliant partnership that put LSG bowlers under pressure.

Gill anchored the innings with a classy 56 off 40 balls, finding boundaries regularly and rotating the strike efficiently. Buttler, on the other hand, played an aggressive knock of 60 off 37 deliveries, smashing 11 boundaries and ensuring the required run rate never became an issue.

After Buttler’s dismissal, Washington Sundar added a handy 21 off 13 balls to keep the chase on track, while Rahul Tewatia finished things off calmly with an unbeaten 10. GT eventually reached 165/3 in 18.4 overs, sealing a comfortable victory.

Lucknow’s bowling unit struggled to make significant inroads after the early breakthrough. Mohammad Shami, Prince Yadav, and Digvesh Rathi picked up one wicket each but lacked the support needed to build pressure. Avesh Khan and Linde were unable to contain the flow of runs, allowing GT batters to dominate the proceedings.
