Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continuous and effective role in facilitating a temporary ceasefire.
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received a telephone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who commended Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
According to the Iranian embassy, Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continuous and effective role in facilitating a temporary ceasefire.
Earlier, through the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, U.S. President Donald Trump approved a two-week extension to a military deadline against Iran upon Pakistan’s request. Iran accepted Pakistan’s proposal and agreed to a temporary ceasefire.
Following the agreement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordered all military units to halt operations, emphasizing that this is a temporary pause and not the end of hostilities.
A statement issued via official media said all branches of the military are to immediately implement the ceasefire while remaining on full alert across the country.
