NA Standing Committee On Human Rights Held

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Oct, 2025) A meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights was held on Thursday, MNA Sehar Kamran raised several important matters of national and international concern.

Nevertheless, she recorded deep concerns over the large-scale civilian casualties and destruction of hospitals, schools, and shelters. She called for inclusive and transparent reconstruction efforts and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.

Referring to UN OCHA’s rapid assessment across 1,900 flood-affected villages in Punjab, she questioned NDMA about its assessment along with relief measures for affected growers. It was informed that Sindh’s advance preparedness significantly minimized flood damage, which Kamran appreciated.

Highlighting Pakistan’s commitments at COP28, she recalled the efforts of former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Minister for Climate Change, Senator Sherry Rehman, who secured USD 77.

8 million in climate grants for Pakistan.

She stressed that Pakistan must intensify its advocacy for full operationalization & effective implementation!

She also commended NDMA’s response during the 2025 floods and recalled her own collaboration with the Authority in earlier crises during her time in Saudi Arabia, where she helped mobilize funds and much needed relief items for Pakistan.

On legislative matters, Sehar Kamran briefed the Committee on her National Commission on the Rights of Child (Amendment) Bill, which was clubbed with a similar bill presented by MNA Amir Naveed Jeeva, and was passed by the Committee.
