KARACHI: The Karachi Northern Bypass ‘Awam Dost Mandi’ has come alive with commercial activity as the sacrificial season officially begins, recording its first livestock sale of the year. Traders and visitors alike are enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the market.
Administrator Tariq Tanoli confirmed that Chacha Saleem, a trader from Sheikhupura near Lahore, sold the first animal of the season after arriving at the Northern Bypass site on April 3.
“From day one, we have ensured proper provision of water and fodder for livestock and traders,” said Tanoli. “Dedicated staff have been deployed in every block, and specialized lighting has been installed in all animal pens to facilitate night-time trading.”
The market has become a popular destination for Karachiites, with families and youth flocking in large numbers. Many are taking selfies with exotic breeds, while others enjoy the lively environment and shopping experience.
To accommodate visitors, food cabins and stalls have been set up in each block, offering meals, snacks, and refreshments.
The security is a key priority, with Police and Rangers personnel deployed at all entry and exit points to ensure the safety of shoppers, traders, and livestock.
The Northern Bypass Awam Dost Mandi is expected to remain a major hub for trade and community gatherings throughout the sacrificial season.
