Pakistan Railways introduce modernized Safari Train

Pakistan Railways has launched an upgraded Safari Train service as part of efforts to promote tourism and improve passenger experience.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi inaugurated the train at Rawalpindi Railway Station, saying the project is part of a broader plan to modernize the railway system.

The new Safari Train includes air-conditioned coaches, better seating, and a family-friendly environment. It has been designed mainly for tourism, with short stops at different stations and planned recreational activities along the journey. Passengers will also have the option to stay longer and enjoy food services at scenic locations such as Attock Khurd.

The minister said this initiative shows the government’s focus on improving travel comfort and promoting domestic tourism. He added that more people are now using train services, which reflects growing public trust.

Abbasi said the Safari Train is part of wider reforms aimed at improving railway infrastructure, increasing efficiency, and introducing modern facilities across the network. Officials believe this step will strengthen the role of Pakistan Railways in tourism and provide passengers with a better travel experience.

Earlier, the minister also shared that Pakistan Railways has achieved record daily revenue, the highest in the past 30 years. He said that due to reforms introduced over the last eight months, the department has seen a major increase in income from both passenger and freight services.

According to him, Pakistan Railways has been earning around Rs300 million per day over the past 15 days. He added that the system has now been fully digitalised across the country and is moving toward stable and long-term growth.
