Piers Morgan issues ‘huge’ Donald Trump ‘development’ on ‘long-running scandal’

Piers Morgan has issued a “huge development” with Donald Trump after the US President urged lawmakers in his own political party to release files relating to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Taking to X, Morgan wrote: “President Trump tells House Republicans to release the Epstein files. Huge development in this long-running scandal.”

Attatched to Morgan’s tweet was a screengrab of Trump’s Truth Social post, shared on Sunday night, which read: “As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party, including our recent Victory on the Democrat ‘Shutdown'”.

Trump has always denied any link to disgraced financier Epstein’s sex abuse and trafficking. He was found dead in his New York jail cell in 2019 after being held on charges of sex trafficking.

The President has branded the attention over the Epstein files a Democratic-led “hoax” to draw attention away from his government.

He added in his Truth Social post: “The Department of Justice has already turned over tens of thousands of pages to the Public on ‘Epstein,’ are looking at various Democrat operatives (Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, Larry Summers, etc.) and their relationship to Epstein, and the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE.”

Trump also said he wanted Republicans to “get back on point” as part of his lengthy social media post.

Morgan’s followers were quick to comment on his tweet, with one remarking: “However people feel about the politics behind it, releasing the full files is the only way to remove speculation and restore public trust. Sunlight ends the guessing, the rumours, and the weaponising. If there’s nothing to hide, transparency should be the easiest decision of all.”

Another said: “If Trump really means it, this could be a win for transparency. Releasing Epstein files would help the public understand the full scope of the scandal.”
