Taxila Museum Celebrates International Archaeology Day With Zeal

WAH CANTT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Oct, 2025) International Archaeology Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural pride at the historic Taxila Museum on Sunday, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its archaeological significance. The event was organized by the Directorate General of Archaeology, Government of Punjab, under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab and the guidance of Senior Minister Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, Secretary of the Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Department, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. He was warmly received by Mr. Asim Dogar, Deputy Director (Sub-Regional Office), Taxila Museum, and Ms. Humera Naz, Curator, Taxila Museum, along with museum staff and internees.

The celebrations began with an awareness walk, featuring the participation of students from various educational institutions, foreign tourists, and archaeology enthusiasts.

The walk aimed to promote the importance of historical preservation and raise awareness about Pakistan’s rich archaeological heritage.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta emphasized the cultural and educational significance of archaeology, stating that preserving ancient heritage is essential for connecting future generations with their historical roots. He appreciated the role of the Taxila Museum in safeguarding Gandhara civilization and promoting heritage awareness among youth.
