US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States is prepared to launch heavy strikes against Iran if his 8 p.m. deadline on Tuesday is not met.

Donald Trump made the remarks during a phone interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, insisting that “8 p.m. is happening.”

Baier recounted that he asked Trump about the likelihood of reaching a negotiated deal, and the president said he would not put odds on it but confirmed the 8 p.m. deadline. Trump added that if the deadline passes without an agreement, the US would carry out an attack “like they have not seen.”

However, he also noted that if negotiations produced something concrete before then, the situation could change. At the time of the interview, Trump said plans were moving forward as outlined, describing the developments as a “huge deal.”
