Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude following the ceasefire and invited delegations from the United States and Iran to visit Islamabad on April 10.

In a message shared on his official account on X, the prime minister stated that the government hopes to share more positive developments with the nation in the coming days, indicating that progress is ongoing.

The conflict between Iran and the United States, which had continued for over a month, has now been halted through a two-week ceasefire agreed upon at a critical moment.

According to reports, Pakistan played a key diplomatic role in facilitating the ceasefire. Despite not participating militarily, Pakistan’s mediation efforts have been widely acknowledged.

It was reported that a deadline had been set by Donald Trump for potential military escalation, while Iran had also prepared for a response. However, a ceasefire proposal was put forward by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shortly after midnight, helping to de-escalate the situation.

During these tense hours, Islamabad became a focal point of international diplomacy. Reports from CNN indicate that the ceasefire proposal received attention at the White House. Field Marshal Asim Munir was also involved in the broader diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan remained in communication with multiple countries throughout the process. Following official confirmation of the ceasefire by the United States and Iran, global oil prices dropped significantly from over $115 per barrel to below $100.

Internationally, Pakistan’s efforts have been recognized as a major diplomatic success. Observers note that the initiative helped avert a potentially devastating conflict that could have cost millions of lives.

Islamabad Talks

The ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran will take place in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

According to diplomatic sources, talks regarding the ceasefire are scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Friday, and preparations are currently being finalized.

Sources say that key figures from both the United States and Iran will participate in these negotiations. From Iran, the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will attend.

From the United States, the Vice President and President Trump’s advisor Steve Witkoff are expected to participate.
