Cooking oil price hikes by Rs60 per liter

The price of cooking oil has surged by Rs60 per liter, reaching Rs550 per liter, just a week after it was sold at Rs490 per liter. The sudden increase has added to the rising cost of basic necessities, putting additional strain on household budgets.

Shopkeepers explained that the price hike is due to reduced supply and other market factors. Consumers are reportedly facing frustration and anxiety as the sudden jump in prices has made everyday expenses harder to manage.

Along with cooking oil, flour prices are also on the rise, with a 5-kilogram bag now selling for around Rs900. Citizens and shopkeepers have appealed to the government for immediate intervention, urging the activation of price control committees to stabilize essential commodity rates.

The combination of soaring prices and substandard quality of food items has made it increasingly difficult for ordinary families to manage even two meals a day, causing widespread concern and dissatisfaction among the public.
