High alert prevails across Islamabad, Rawalpindi ahead of expected US-Iran talks

All types of public transport, goods transport, intercity transport have been suspended until further notice.

Security has been further tightened in Islamabad due to the second round of talks between Iran and United States and the arrival of foreign delegations.

Authorities have also issued an alternative traffic plan under which the Red Zone and extended Red Zone in Islamabad will remain completely closed for all types of traffic. Traffic on Srinagar Highway may also be stopped at different times.

Entry of all heavy traffic into Islamabad from any route or highway has been completely banned. Owners of heavy vehicles have been advised to avoid traveling towards Islamabad during these days to prevent inconvenience.

Meanwhile, COMSATS University Islamabad has shifted its classes online starting Monday, April 20, as per an official notification. Midterm exams scheduled at the university have also been postponed.

In Rawalpindi, security has been placed on high alert, and additional police personnel have been deployed on key roads. All types of public transport, goods transport, and intercity transport have been suspended until further notice. Security has also been increased on Old Airport Road, while the Metro Bus service will remain partially suspended.

In addition, markets in Faizabad and surrounding areas have been closed. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, while senior police and security officials are closely monitoring the situation.
