Huawei introduces Watch Fit 5 series with new pro model

Huawei has officially launched the fifth generation of its smartwatch lineup with the introduction of the Huawei Watch Fit 5 and Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro.

The new smartwatches were revealed during a major product event, where Huawei also introduced devices like the Pura X Max foldable phone, the Pura 90 Pro series, Watch Buds 2, and the Watch Ultimate Star Diamond Edition.

Both watches continue with the familiar rectangular design of the Watch Fit series, but the Pro model features slimmer bezels, allowing for a larger display. The Watch Fit 5 Pro comes with a 1.92-inch AMOLED touchscreen protected by 2.5D sapphire glass and can reach up to 3,000 nits brightness for better visibility outdoors.

The standard Watch Fit 5 includes a slightly smaller 1.82-inch AMOLED display with brightness up to 2,500 nits. Both models support Always-On Display and include two physical controls on the side, including a rotating crown and a shortcut button.

Huawei has used aluminum frames for both watches, while the Pro version adds a titanium bezel for a more premium look.

The company has also improved health tracking features in this generation with a new system that includes six LED sensors and six PPG sensors for heart rate monitoring, along with temperature sensors. The Pro model offers extra features such as ECG monitoring and depth sensing.

Both watches are water-resistant up to 5 ATM, making them suitable for swimming, while the Pro version also supports freediving up to 40 meters.

Users can access a wide range of sports modes, and Huawei has added an improved cycling mode similar to the one found in its Watch GT series.

The Chinese versions of the watches include dual-band GNSS, NFC, and Bluetooth 6.0, although Huawei has not confirmed if these features will be available in global versions.

Both devices come with a built-in microphone and speaker, along with a voice recorder feature for recording notes and reminders directly from the watch.

Huawei says the Watch Fit 5 series can last up to seven days on a single charge with normal use, and up to 10 days with lighter usage. With Always-On Display enabled, battery life reduces to around four days. The watches are charged using Huawei’s magnetic charger.

The Watch Fit 5 is available in multiple colors including purple, green, white, black, and silver, with a price of CNY 1,099, which is about $161. The Watch Fit 5 Pro is offered in black, white, and orange, starting at around $322.

Huawei has not yet announced when these smartwatches will be available internationally.
