Kamala Harris accuses Netanyahu of steering US into Iran conflict

Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has levelled sharp criticism against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging that he exerted significant influence over President Donald Trump’s decision to enter the escalating conflict with Iran, a war she claims does not reflect the will or interests of the American public.

Addressing a Democratic Party fundraising event in Detroit, Harris argued that the United States was effectively drawn into a geopolitical confrontation driven by external pressure.

She asserted that President Trump was “entangled” in a war that lacks domestic support, stressing that the American public had no appetite for military escalation in the Middle East.

She further warned that the conflict has placed US military personnel in heightened danger, describing the decision as one that directly compromises the safety of American troops.

Harris also contended that the burden of the war is increasingly being shifted onto ordinary American citizens, who are now facing economic repercussions, including rising fuel prices.

According to Harris, President Trump’s foreign policy choices have been significantly shaped by Netanyahu’s strategic positioning, suggesting that the Israeli leader played a decisive role in steering Washington toward military engagement with Iran.

She argued that the consequences of this alignment are being disproportionately borne by American citizens and service members alike.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly rejected such assertions. Speaking at a press conference last month, he dismissed the notion of external influence over US decision-making, stating: “Does anyone really think that someone can tell President Trump what to do?”, thereby denying any suggestion that Israel dictated Washington’s course of action in the Iran conflict.
