Major Narcotics Haul: Customs Enforcement Seizes 300kg of ‘Ice’ in Noshki Operation – CustomsNews.pk Daily

QUETTA: In a significant blow to narcotics smuggling networks, the Customs Enforcement team from Quetta has intercepted a massive consignment of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice,’ with an estimated international value of a staggering $130 million, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Noshki district, leading to the seizure of 300 kilograms of the highly addictive drug, which was ingeniously concealed within secret compartments of a large goods truck.

The breakthrough came after credible information was developed and passed down by Collector of Customs Enforcement, Quetta, Mr. Umar Shafique. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a specialized team was dispatched to the area under the direct supervision of Preventive Officer Khalid Jadoon.

“The smuggling attempt was sophisticated. The narcotics were hidden in specially constructed cavities within the truck, designed to evade routine checks,” a senior official familiar with the operation stated. “However, due to precise intelligence and meticulous work by the field team, the concealment was identified and the contraband was successfully recovered.”

According to details released by Customs officials, the seized 300 kilograms of crystal meth has an estimated street value of over 200 million Pakistani Rupees within the local market. Its value, however, multiplies exponentially in international markets, where it is priced at approximately 130 million US dollars, underscoring the scale and profitability of the illicit trade the authorities have disrupted.

Crystal meth is a potent and destructive synthetic stimulant, and its abuse has become a growing concern globally. A haul of this magnitude represents a significant supply chain destined for both local consumption and, likely, international export, potentially funding other criminal activities.

Officials have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the origins of the narcotics, identify the intended recipients, and apprehend the members of the smuggling syndicate behind this operation. The truck and its driver have been taken into custody for further interrogation.
