The National Emergency Operations Centre said that more than 44.5 million children were vaccinated during the six-day nationwide anti-polio campaign, which is the second countrywide drive and is concluding today.
According to the statement, over 22.9 million children received the vaccine in Punjab, while more than 10.3 million children were vaccinated in Sindh.
The campaign also reached about 7.15 million children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2.58 million in Balochistan.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, more than 717,000 children were given polio drops, while over 292,000 children were vaccinated in Gilgit-Baltistan. In the federal capital Islamabad, more than 441,000 children were covered during the campaign.
The NEOC added that over 400,000 frontline workers took part in the drive, going door-to-door to administer polio drops to children.
The center also stated that vaccination is essential for every child under the age of five to protect them from the crippling Polio.
