Pakistani film “Psycho” set for worldwide release on Eid-ul-Adha

LAHORE: A unique and thought-provoking addition to the Pakistani film industry, “Psycho” is all set for a global release on May 27, 2026, coinciding with Eid-ul-Adha.

The film is being described as a serious, psychological, and thematic project that moves beyond conventional commercial cinema to explore the complexities of the human mind.

The story revolves around the idea that reality is not always simple or absolute; rather, it is shaped by power dynamics, social pressures, personal interests, and hidden motivations. Within this framework, the line between truth and perception becomes increasingly blurred.

The film’s central message “the real enemy lives in the mind”, serves as its philosophical core, encouraging audiences to reflect on their inner selves.

Produced by Suleman Butt, CEO of Red Lipstick Productions, “Psycho” integrates advanced technology, high-quality cinematography, international-standard visual effects, and global storytelling techniques.

The aim is to position Pakistani cinema with a stronger identity on the international stage. The film features a stellar cast including Shaan Shahid, Meera, Sonia Hussyn, and Javed Sheikh, Nayyar Ijaz, Shabbir Jan, Adnan Butt, all of whom have delivered intense and realistic performances.

The teaser of the film was previously showcased at London’s iconic O2 Arena, marking a significant international milestone for Pakistani cinema. Early responses suggest that “Psycho” has already captured the attention of audiences and critics alike ahead of its release.

As part of its promotional campaign, a press conference was held where the film’s trailer was officially unveiled, followed by an exclusive screening for media representatives.

The event was attended by the main cast including Shaan Shahid, Meera, and Nayar Ejaz, along with key members of the production team.

Speaking at the occasion, Shaan Shahid stated, “Shaan Shahid shared that PSYCHO is not built around surface storytelling, but around the complexities of the human mind.

He emphasized that the film invites the audience to observe and interpret rather than be led, exploring the space where perception and reality do not always align.”

Meera shared her thoughts, saying, “Meera described PSYCHO as a deeply layered experience, highlighting that her approach to the role was rooted in understanding rather than performance.

She added that the project reflects her current focus on meaningful, content-driven work that resonates beyond the screen. Producer Suleman Butt added, “Our goal with ‘Psycho’ is to deliver meaningful entertainment that also raises social awareness and presents a positive image of Pakistan on a global platform.

Film experts believe that “Psycho” could mark the beginning of a new era in Pakistani cinema, focusing on meaningful and thought-provoking storytelling.

The film is expected to perform well at the box office while offering audiences a memorable and intellectually engaging cinematic experience.
