The second last month of the Islamic year 1447 Hijri, Zil-Qadah, has officially started in Pakistan after the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the first day of Zil-Qadah will be observed on Sunday.

Announcement was made by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, who confirmed that the crescent moon of the sacred month had been successfully seen.

According to Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, the new moon was formed on April 17 at 4:52 PM. The weather and visibility conditions on the evening of April 18 were very favorable, which helped in successfully sighting the moon.

With this confirmation, the country now enters the holy month of Zil-Qadah, and preparations and religious activities linked to the Islamic calendar will begin accordingly.
